Juice Williams

Stopping Juice Williams is key for Trojans

Illinois quarterback’s biggest strength is his ability to carry the ball like a running back.

If there’s one thing that has frustrated USC in recent seasons, it has been defending a mobile quarterback such as Juice Williams, who operates out of a spread offense.

Vince Young was effective in this role when he led Texas to a victory over USC in the Rose Bowl two years ago, and Dennis Dixon burned them in Oregon’s win over USC this season.

In Williams, a 6-foot-2, 223-pound sophomore, the Trojans will face a different challenge. While Young and Dixon used their legs to keep plays alive and were effective passers on the move, Williams’ biggest strength is his ability to carry the ball like a running back.

Pork and Sauerkraut Preps

Work is well underway to serve up a 27-year-old tradition in Lancaster County.

Volunteers cleaned 1,400 pounds of potatoes Monday at the Kinzer Fire Hall. They’re getting ready for the annual New Year’s Day pork and sauerkraut dinner. The dinner includes 1,800 pounds of pork and 165 drums of homemade sauerkraut.

Organizers expect to serve 2,000 people. They say there are a couple things you should bring if you’re planning to take part- an appetite and patience, since it does take time to feed such a large crowd.

The dinner is a fundraiser for the Kinzer Fire Company. They’ll be serving food from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

January 1 TCP/IP

Internet protocol suite

Internet protocol suite is the set of communications protocols that implement the protocol stack on which the Internet and most commercial networks run. It has also been referred to as the TCP/IP protocol suite, which is named after two of the most important protocols in it: the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP), which were also the first two networking protocols defined. Today’s IP networking represents a synthesis of two developments that began in the 1960s and 1970s, namely LANs (Local Area Networks) and the Internet, both of which have revolutionized computing.

The Internet Protocol suite—like many protocol suites—can be viewed as a set of layers. Each layer solves a set of problems involving the transmission of data, and provides a well-defined service to the upper layer protocols based on using services from some lower layers. Upper layers are logically closer to the user and deal with more abstract data, relying on lower layer protocols to translate data into forms that can eventually be physically transmitted. The TCP/IP reference model consists of four layers [1].
