Boeing 737 crashes in western Russia

81 feared dead in plane crash in Russia

A jet carrying 81 people crashed early Sunday morning in western Russia, killing everyone on board, an airline spokesman said.

The Boeing 737 en route to Perm from Moscow was operated by Aeroflot Nord. The pilots lost communication with air traffic control at about 3:10 a.m. (2110 GMT), said Aeroflot spokesman Lev Koshlyakov. The landing in Perm was scheduled for 3:30 a.m.

Seventy-five passengers — including seven children — were on board, in addition to six crew members.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known, Koshlyakov said.

Obama Waffles: Racial Stereotypes as Propaganda

You know Republicans are shaking in their cowboy boots when they resort to racial stereotyping as a way to undermine Barack Obama.

Activists at a conservative political summit held in Washington, D.C., Sept. 13 were buying up box loads of Obama Waffles, a waffle mix showing Obama on the front with bulging eyes and big lips as he smiles at a plate of waffles. On its top flap, Obama sports what appears to be a white turban next to the words: “Point box toward Mecca for tastier waffles.”

Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss, who created Obama Waffles, insist they meant no harm, saying their drawings were merely political satire. The two writers from Franklin, Tenn., sold Obama Waffles for $10 a box from a rented booth at the Values Voter Summit sponsored by the lobbying arm of the Family Research Council. The vendors were later booted from the forum after protesters found the waffle box offensive.

Muslim Massacre Game

Muslim Massacre Game

British Muslims condemned as deeply offensive on Friday a computer game called “Muslim Massacre,” which trumpets itself as a “game of modern religious genocide.”
The game, which can be downloaded for free on the Internet, urges players to “wipe out the Muslim race with an arsenal of the world’s most destructive weapons.”
“The makers of this ‘game’ and the ISPs (Internet service providers) who are hosting it should be quite ashamed of themselves,” Inayat Bunglawala, spokesperson for the Muslim Council of Britain, told AFP.
“Anti-Muslim prejudice is already on the increase and needs to be challenged and not reinforced through tasteless and offensive stunts like this.”
Players in the game — the aim of which is to “ensure that no Muslim man or woman is left alive” — control an “American Hero” wielding a machine gun and a rocket launcher parachuted into the Middle East.
