Palin Mistates Biden comment on Barack Obama

Sarah

Sarah Palin misrepresented to a campaign audience Thursday what her Democratic counterpart Joe Biden has said about Barack Obama‘s ability to handle a foreign crisis.

“Sen. Obama‘s own running mate, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has informed us that a serious international crisis is certain if Obama is elected and that he is not ready to deal with it,” Palin told thousands of supporters at a rally in this western Ohio city.

Poll: Barack Obama lead in Florida

A new Miami Herald poll indicates Barack Obama has taken a lead in Florida. The key factor: swing voters.

Obama has opened up a 49-42 percent lead over John McCain in Florida, according to a new Miami Herald poll showing the Democrat earns high marks on the economy and is drawing significant support from the swing voters who decide elections in the nation’s largest swing state.

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin appeared on NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live,” along with Palin lookalike Tina Fey.

The show’s opening sketch featured a mock press conference with Fey reprising her role as the Alaska governor.

The piece then cut to a shot of Sarah Palin watching Fey’s performance on a television monitor with Lorne Michaels, the show’s executive producer.

Sarah Palin can give as good as she gets. The Republican vice presidential nominee appeared on NBC-TV’s “Saturday Night Live” and played along as Tina Fey reprised her impersonation of the Alaska governor.

Sarah Palin stood with Executive Producer Lorne Michaels late Saturday as the two watched Sarah Palin stage a mock news conference. Sarah Palin lamented Michaels wouldn’t let her impersonate Fey on her show, “30 Rock,” but Michaels said no one watched the program anyway.

Sarah Palin Autism

Sarah Palin Autism

I just finished watching the presidential debates, and heard the word “autism” brought up not once, not twice, but at least three or four times.

Mr. McCain referred to “precious children” with autism, and suggested that Sarah Palin would be a strong supporter of parents of autistic children (presumably because she has a child with Down syndrome). Mr. Obama described plans to increase funding for autism research and implied support for increased funding for special education (though he made no particular mention of how or whether special education might be reformed or improved).

Presidential Debate

presidential debate october 15 2008

Presidential Debate 2008 election are now over, brought to a close by an at-times testy back and forth between Barack Obama and John McCain at Hofstra University in New York.

McCain did not score the knockout blow that many Republicans had hoped but he did land several solid body shots — the best of which was his repudiation of Obama’s contention that he represented four more years of President George W. Bush.

Obama, well aware of his lead in state and national polls, refused to be flustered by McCain and instead brought nearly every question he was asked back to the economy and the struggles of average middle class families. Obama wasn’t particularly dynamic, but he didn’t have to be.

Congressman John Lewis

McCain took issue with a recent attack by Democratic Rep. John Lewis, an icon of the civil rights movement, who levied a harsh attack against McCain and Sarah Palin for not doing more to repudiate the negative statements some supporters have made at GOP rallies. McCain called the attack “unfair and totally inapproate” and rightly noted that he has personally repudiated attacks from Republicans against Obama.

Sarah Palin says Obama running against Bush, not McCain

Sarah Palin says Obama running against Bush, not McCain

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Tuesday said Barack Obama is running as though his opponent is President Bush instead of John McCain. She called it a strategy that’s “wearing pretty thin.”

Addressing several hundred supporters at a fundraiser, the Alaska governor said voters know McCain as a political maverick and war hero and that Obama is trying too hard to link the Arizona senator to the unpopular GOP president.

“Our opponents spend so much time pretending they are running against the current president. I think it’s wearing pretty thin,” Palin said, without mentioning Bush’s name. “The American people are really waking up and saying no, the status quo is not one of the boxes to check.”

Palin Abuse of Power

Sarah Palin Abuse of Power

An Alaska ethics inquiry found on Friday that U.S. Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin Abused her Power as the state’s governor, casting a cloud over John McCain’s controversial choice of running mate for the November 4 election.

At the same time, McCain shifted his strategy. After a week in which his campaign tried in vain to seize the momentum from Democrat Barack Obama with fierce personal attacks, he adopted a conciliatory tone, calling on supporters to respect the Illinois senator.

The Alaska inquiry centered on whether Palin’s dismissal of the state’s public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, was linked to her personal feud with a state trooper who was involved in a contentious divorce with the governor’s sister.

A report prepared for the state Legislative Council said Monegan’s refusal to fire the trooper was not the sole reason he was dismissed but was likely a contributing factor. The McCain-Palin campaign had said the commissioner was fired because of poor performance.

Palin Report Due Out Today

Sen. John McCain unleashed his harshest attack ad yet today, charging that Sen. Barack Obama “lied” about his relationship to 1960s anti-war terrorist Bill Ayers.

Despite the GOP’s televised attack, it was the Republican team of McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin who braced for bad news today.

Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran

Bomb, Bomb Iran

Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran

The fact that John McCain once sang “Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran” to the tune of the 1960s hit Barbara Ann came up again at tonight’s presidential debate. Whatever one makes of this fact, it should be noted that McCain and much of the media have been guilty of perpetuating a pop-cultural misunderstanding in connection with it.

When McCain originally sang those lines on the campaign trail in 2007, (here’s a YouTube clip), he introduced them as “that old Beach Boys song.” Reporters, pundits and others have typically described the incident as McCain parodying a Beach Boys song.

But while the Beach Boys recorded a popular version of Barbara Ann in 1965, the original version was recorded by a group called the Regents and charted in 1961.

Sarah Palin Defends Terrorist Comment

Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin defended her claim that Barack Obama “pals around with terrorists,” saying the Democratic presidential nominee’s association with a 1960s radical is an issue that is “fair to talk about.”

Obama has denounced the radical views and actions of Bill Ayers, a founder of the violent Weather Underground group during the Vietnam era. On Sunday, Obama dismissed the criticism from the McCain campaign, leveled by Palin, as “smears” meant to distract voters from real problems such as the troubled economy.

Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, launched the attack Saturday and repeated it twice Sunday, signaling a new strategy by John McCain’s presidential campaign to go after Obama‘s character.

“The comments are about an association that has been known but hasn’t been talked about,” Palin said as she boarded her plane in Long Beach, Calif. “I think it’s fair to talk about where Barack Obama kicked off his political career, in the guy’s living room.”

Later, at an Omaha rally, Palin elaborated on her attack, claiming one of Obama‘s advisers had described Obama and Ayers as “friendly.”

“In fact, Obama held one of his first meetings hoping to kick off his political career in Bill Ayers’ living room,” she told the crowd, which had just raised $2.5 million for the Republican party’s McCain-Palin Victory 2008 fund.

At issue is Obama‘s association with Ayers. Both have served on the same Chicago charity and live near each other in Chicago. Ayers also held a meet-the-candidate event at his home for Obama when Obama first ran for office in the mid-1990s, the event cited by Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin Immortalized In Pron Video

Sarah Palin

Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin can’t get any hotter than she is right now.

According to TMZ.com, Sarah Palin is officially a legend —

Hustler is shooting a pron video with a look-alike, titled “Nailin’ Paylin.” The spelling is sic and so is Hustler.

The faux Sarah is Lisa Ann, who “will be nailing the Russians who come knocking on her back-door.” In another scene — a flashback — “young Paylin’s creationist college professor will explain a ‘big bang’ theory even she can’t deny!”

There’s also a threeway with Hillary and Condoleezza look-alikes.

The video is in pre-production, but is being fast tracked for release before the election.

What do you think? Can a vice president run the country and still be a pron star?

If you had trouble following the Vice Presidential debate last night – don’t worry, adennak at DailyKos has got you covered.

It’s not off-base to say that Sarah Palin did better than expected last night – but at the same time, we really need to analyze the way she dodged questions she didn’t know the answers to and why her answers sounded like canned responses peppered with key phrases such as maverick, partisan, six-pack Joe, hockey mom and energy. You must admit, it did get confusing slash frustrating when you were thinking what question is she answering?

Poll: Joe Biden wins debate, Palin exceeds expectations
A national poll of people who watched the vice presidential debate suggests that Democratic Sen. Joe Biden won but also hints that Republican Gov. Sarah Palin exceeded expectations.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey is not a measurement of the views of all Americans, since only people who watched the debate were questioned.

Fifty-one percent of those polled thought Biden did the best job in Thursday night’s debate, while 36 percent thought Palin did the best job.

But respondents said the folksy Palin was more likable, scoring 54 percent to Biden‘s 36 percent.
